Golden Site is the oldest competition in Russia. On March 22, this year's winners were announced. We share our impressions.
We won 7 awards — 3 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze — in different categories. Throughout 2021 and in 2022, we have been relentlessly working towards such excellent results.
Here are the projects that captivated the jury of Golden Site and our own attitude towards each of them.
Wemakefab Site. Gold in the category of
'Website for Digital Agency / Production'
Last year we upgraded our own website. The main task was to improve web page positioning and focus on the team, cases and expertise. The site turned out concise and user-friendly. No more abstruse phrases or hackneyed clichés as 'amazing, fun company culture.'
Above all, I was delighted with the gold for our site. First, being an editor, I clearly see my part — I work on the content, structure, and think of the ways to make the site more convenient and concise. Second, this victory proves to be an obvious marker that we have became one of the leading agencies in Russia.

Glavguide Site. Gold in the category of
'Online Travel Service, Informational Site for Selecting a Tour'
Travel Aggregator of tours, guides and travel agencies in St. Petersburg and Moscow with an option to explore and buy tours online. This is a service with the complex architecture and behavioral metrics.
This project serves as a great example of a fully-fledged digital product that we can create from scratch. The team gained tremendous experience that help us deal with the today's product tasks. As a result of this landmark project, we decided to focus on the development of online services.
Gold in the category of 'Best Usability / UX'
Fontshare is an online free-font service for personal and commercial use. The project aims at helping brands and individuals with no budget to access free and beautiful typography.
I consider this project to be landmark as this task implied nice design and usability while using only typography and its contrast with deliberate absence of decorative elements.
Silver in the category of 'Startup Site'
Another award for the online travel aggregator — but for startups. And this project was a real startup: we developed the service from scratch, starting from the idea to advertising and unit economics.
The project was being developed in an evolutionary way — the way a startup should. First, we squeezed the best out of WordPress, however it turned out too dense and we started developing our own content management and CRM systems for sales management using Laravel framework. We monitored behavioral metrics and analyzed the customer experience from the largest services and thus, we managed to revise the UX entirely.
Silver in the category of 'Website for Transport,
Logistics and Delivery'
SASCO is one of the largest Russian shipping companies and a market leader with 80 years of history.
Solid and stable companies must have solid websites.
We built a corporate identity, developed backend with non-standard functionality and animations.
Over the first call with the client, I immediately realized that we were on the same page talking for half an hour. I am pretty sure that the client had no second thoughts about selecting us as a contractor. This turned out to be exciting and intense work accompanied by dozens of phone calls, approvals and corrections. And here is the well-deserved result.
Director of development
Laguta + Laguta Site.
Silver in the category of 'Personal Site'
Portfolio website for Alexander and Ekaterina Laguta with a modern approach to case design.
The task was to get a dynamic and modern view maintainining design simplicity and conciseness.
We wanted to make a website that would not just be pretty but clear and simple for users. As designers, we greatly appreciate aesthetics and style, but still we won't ignore practical goals. Therefore, the site has no unnecessary elements, which strongly conveys our approach to work. Just like black and white.
Bronze in the category of 'Startup Site'
Unit Studio is a startup engaged in constructing residential and commercial modules out of shipping containers. This year we won two of the three awards in the startup category. This is the outcome of our new positioning as we want to develop online services from scratch, starting from an idea to result in the whole product with technical and design support.
It's one of the projects where we were provided with freedom to act - the client trusted our experience. The work went smoothly, all ideas were agreed upon almost immediately. And it came out cool. The site, like the company's product, turned out to be flexible and modular. The grid is easily transformable to the desired format, and the technical description of the project appears easy and concise, due to the well-designed typography.
We always try to do our job as well as possible. First and foremost, we think how the customer and their users will benefit from the product, not about awards. Apparently, this is the key to victory.
